A lot of women think that looking beautiful and elegant is something that comes with a hefty price tag. But this is not true; you can look quite stunning without spending a fortune on your clothes.
All it takes is some effort and creativity on your part to pull off a fantastic style statement without spending much money.
It’s acceptable to strive for beauty. But trying to look as good as models and celebrities can be stressful, expensive, and time-consuming.
Some of my coursemates look so extra when they come in for a lecture, leaving me wondering whether we’re at the same level.
Their dressing makes them look older in a good way, kind of superior. You’ll be forced to give them titles like “Aunty Chioma” and “Sister Ada”. They’re not your ordinary university students.
It’s so because they put effort into their looks. Their appearance matters just as much as their studies do too.

Although there isn’t a big trick to looking elegant, there is something you should be aware of before attempting to do so.
You should try for the right reasons, and you should have a good reason for trying. Do you want to appear elegant because others do, or are you trying to win people over?
Knowing that you are already beautiful should be your first priority while attempting to look beautiful.
It does not matter if you’re going for a job interview, company party, meeting important clients or family events, you will always want to look elegant and beautiful.
However, it’s not easy to look stunning when you are dressed in modest clothing and low budget jewellery. The tips in this article will help you make the most out of whatever dress or outfit you have.
In this article, I’ll be sharing little tips on how to look fabulous even on a low budget.
1. Work on your hygiene to look beautiful and elegant
Everyone knows this is the most important thing.
You can’t wear a fine gown on a smelly body. Even if you can endure it because it’s your body and you can do whatever you like, I’m very sure your boyfriend can’t endure it.

It doesn’t cost much to clean yourself up.
Having a bath twice every day may seem exhilarating, but the truth is, that’s what these shiny women do, I assure you. With time, you’ll get used to it. It’ll become a part of you.
Taking your bath at least twice every day leaves your skin fresh and removes body odour.
Most of the time, this body odour comes from the type of skincare products you use. You can find the type of product that best suits you, and if there’s none available, there’s always Vaseline.
I don’t doubt the saying that hair is the beauty of a woman. Some people don’t like to get their hair wet. One of the many misconceptions about washing hair, one of which I’ll say and correct.
Some people feel that washing dandruff off their hair stunts growth. It’s very funny. Dandruff makes your hair itchy, and that’s why when you scratch and wash, your hair falls off.
Dermatologist Michele Green, MD talks about people that don’t wash their hair, saying, “They feel like they lose more hair when they wash, so they stop, and that’s not that healthy; it’s the opposite. If you have dandruff, you should be washing your hair every day or every other day.“
“It falls out a bit if you wash every day and a lot if you wash every 3-4 days because it accumulates on the days you don’t wash.”
Jeffrey Benabio, MD, a dermatologist in San Diego
If you know the amount of dirt that accumulates on your hair every day, you’ll be forced to give your hair a special treatment.
For people with braids, don’t forget to wash them off after loosening the braids. This helps to unblock the spores on the scalp.
Another thing is to brush twice daily, morning and night, especially at night before you go to bed. Good breath gives you a lot of confidence when speaking and saves you from embarrassment from people sitting close to you.
2. Buy the right secondhand wear from thrift stores

Don’t feel down when you can’t afford to buy designer clothing. You can still appear lovely. You ought to be able to make use of what little you have.
Don’t be shocked if you see your affluent classmate bending over to choose these used clothes that are spread out on a mat when you visit the market one morning.
She won’t be immediately recognisable because she will be donning sunglasses.
It is unnecessary to force it if you lack the funds. Simply visit a thrift shop and carefully choose eye-catching clothing.
You might be able to purchase that expensive dress from a boutique right there in the thrift shop for less money.
You shouldn’t adopt every fashion trend. When choosing your clothing, choose high-quality fabrics and items that will make you feel comfortable. Don’t buy a gorgeous sweater just to feel rich and wear it on a sunny day.
I’ve seen people fall every minute while wearing heels. How is that elegant of you? Why wear heels if they cause your legs to tremble?
If you insist on wearing them, you’ll need to be able to walk comfortably with them for a considerable amount of time.
When choosing your footwear, choose shoes that are comfortable for you to wear. Do you favour running shoes? Try it out.
However, don’t wear pointy heels just because someone told you that only heels make you look stylish, but also refrain from simply wearing an out-of-place outfit, such as a suit and sneakers. They are incompatible.
If you want to appear elegant, beautiful, and in charge, you must know what to wear at a specific time and for every occasion.
3. Take care of your clothing
Pay attention to small details and wash and iron those clothes. You appear rough if your clothes are rumpled. You come off as being careless.
People may treat you less favourably if your uniform or suit has a few minor creases. These minute details count. Fold your collars, button your cuffs, and tuck in any out-of-tuck shirts.
Be at your best if you need to look formal for that particular event.
4. Wear your makeup simply

A lot of people like to “mask up”. It’s nice, actually, if you want to look extraordinarily pretty.
Will people recognise you? That is the issue. Does it in any way elevate your style? Do you feel confident in your new appearance?
Simple and natural is beauty in and of itself. These days, grooms bemoan their brides’ makeup because it takes so much time and effort from the women. They appear to be attempting to hide their true selves.
The people you’re trying to impress will understand, but what good is it if you don’t look like you anymore? Makeup overkill won’t make you look elegant.
Choose lighter items. It is necessary, to use setting powder that matches the colour of your skin. It is a good idea to experiment with various tones and shades until you find the one that perfectly complements your skin tone.
You’ll look like a ghost if you wear a colour that is lighter than the colour of your skin.
If you have no idea what lipstick colour to wear, you can just go for the colourless lip glosses. They’re so much better. They make those lips kissable. Don’t overdo it.
Just be simple with the facial look.
Use eye shadow colours and facial glitter that match your outfit.
Watch videos that show how to wear makeup the right way so that you don’t end up looking ridiculous.
5. Wear more black clothes when you’ve exhausted your wardrobe

Black complements almost all colours. Wear black whenever you are out of clothes or don’t know what to wear for any occasion.
You can also wear black with other colours, such as red, white, and yellow. Nobody will notice, and black, in particular, looks good on everyone. There are many things that the colour black signifies.
Black is a psychological symbol of elegance, mystique, or power. It’s mostly connected to negative things, but it really depends on you and how you’re feeling.
As the saying goes, too much of anything is bad. You can not continue to dress in all black. However, if you ever find yourself in a predicament where you are out of ideas about what to wear, you should wear all-black attire.
Additionally, you can simply respond that you are mourning your cat when someone asks why you wear black so frequently.
6. Have overflowing confidence in yourself
This is where the need for ego comes in. Sometimes it can be your pride in yourself that pushes you to do something.
It’s the confidence that drives those elegant and stylish models down the runway, not their outfits. Having confidence in yourself makes every other problem less difficult to handle.
When attempting to boost your confidence, there are a few things to keep in mind: make eye contact with others, practice lifting your head just above eye level, and walk gracefully.
When you have confidence in yourself, you won’t try to be someone else; fairer or darker. Avoid using bleaching products as they will undoubtedly have fatal side effects.
While you will enjoy using bleaching creams now, you will eventually notice the effects on your skin as you get older.
Shame will prevent you from even turning to face someone. Everyone will understand why your skin is the way it is.
When I see elderly women with colour patches on their faces from using bleaching products over an extended period of time, I feel both sympathy and outrage for them.
If they hadn’t done that, they would have been stunning old ladies.
They are unable to return to their previous state, and even if they try every treatment available, it may still be dangerous because their skin will be too delicate to work on because it is weaker and flabbier.
I’m not even mentioning the likelihood that they will develop skin cancer.
The sun’s rays are not ideal for people (especially fair people) who want to spend too much time in the sun and tan. Sunburn can sometimes cause cancer.
Being comfortable in your own skin necessitates appreciating the looks that nature has bestowed upon you.
7. Top it off with a smile

A smile is an expression required to cap off all of your efforts to be elegant and beautiful.
As Connie Stevens said, “Nothing you wear is more important than your smile.” This implies that it’s the smile that matters most.
Your smile radiates your beauty and confidence. It tells the world that you’re happy. A smile gives your appearance a softer edge.
In whatever you do, always remember to smile.
The ways I have mentioned in this article are not the only ones; you can also try out other ideas.
As long as you do not compromise on the quality, style, and comfort of your clothes, you can look quite beautiful and elegant even on a low budget.
You can also ask your friends and family members to help you out with their old clothes. Just keep in mind that they should not be too worn out, otherwise they will not look good on you.
If you do not have a lot of money to spend on your clothes, then I would suggest that you try out some of the tips I have mentioned above.
You will be surprised to see that it is possible to look fashionable even if you are on a tight budget.
