Lizzo was right when she said, “All the rumours are true” at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards. The singer and rapper won the award for outstanding competition programme for her show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, one of the many highlights of the night.
If you missed the live broadcast of the Emmy Awards 2022, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered with all the details. In this blog post, we’ll tell you who won, who lost, who surprised us, and who made us laugh at the star-studded ceremony that took place on September 12, 2022, at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
The ceremony was broadcast simultaneously in the United States on Peacock and NBC—I believe Peacock is the best fit to showcase all of the night’s glamour—and it took place on a Monday for the first time since 2018, to coincide with NBC’s Sunday Night Football coverage. The nominations were already announced on July 12th of this year. Kenan Thompson hosted the event.
Here at Vibeblogs, we value your time. We really do! So, if you want to skip all the industry politics and just get right into it, we’ve included a TL; DR section that you can skip to if you just want to see the nominees and winners in each category. We value your time and appreciate your interest.

Summary
Congratulations, you’ve made it to the right place! You must be a true fan of the Emmy Awards, or maybe you’re just curious about what happened. Either way, you’re welcome here. Grab a bottle and join us as we celebrate the best of television in 2022. 🍻
Even though we’re sad to see the decline of award shows in general, with Deadline reporting a drop in viewership over the years, we still want to show our appreciation for the industry that entertained us, moved us, and made us laugh.
The industry that brought us together as families and friends in front of our screens, creating memories and bonds that last for generations. We especially want to applaud the White Lotus, the outstanding HBO Max series that won 10 awards out of 12 nominations. Only the dark comedy Succession, also from HBO Max, got more nominations with 25 and won four awards. Another big winner was Ted Lasso from Apple TV+, the hilarious show that proved that “Football is Life” for some and earned four awards as well.
It was a historic night for Zendaya, who became one of the youngest two-time Emmy winners in history for her role as Rue in—you guessed it! Euphoria! I couldn’t help but smirk at Black Excellence!
Michael Keaton [finally] won his first Emmy, which surprised me because this man has been on television since 1975, on CBC’s Mister Rogers’ Neighbourhood, and no, I wasn’t alive at the time. He was already in his forties when I first discovered cinema and the wonderful world of television. I know this because I just checked the age at which he did the Porco Rosso voice acting.
One of my all-time favourite animes! As a Michael Keaton fan, believe me when I say this is a big deal! Aside from that, fan favourite Squid Game took home two trophies, proving once again that K-Drama is on its way to world dominance, which we at Vibeblogs love to see! You go! Hwang Dong-hyuk!
And for the network nerds, gladiators of the streaming wars…
HBO/HBO max went home with 26 total wins as a network, closely followed by Netflix with 23 and ahead of Disney+ with 9 amongst other major networks.
We crave your indulgence, dear reader. What are your thoughts? Is this the end of award shows, or are people just tired of the grandiose spectacle of Hollywood’s elites?
