Ach! The question is on everyone’s mind! Are you confused about whether you should get the new iPhone when it arrives this September (If you’re reading from the US, shout out to the diaspora support!) or keep using your archaic iPhone 13 ad nauseam even if the screen is cracked like certain celebrities [names withheld to protect their mental health from internet trolls and dragging]?
Well, we at Vibeblogs, have gone through the stress of comparing most of the key features so you don’t have to. Yes, yes, we know we’re awesome. Save the thanks for the comments section. And as if you’re not already tired of my ramblings, how about we get to it then? 😏
The smartphone lineup was announced at the recently concluded “Far out” event, where they also announced the release dates of their most recent lineup of products: the Apple Watch Ultra, Apple Watch SE, the second generation AirPods Pro, and our bone of contention, the iPhone 14 series. Varieties of the iPhone 14 series will include:
- iPhone 14
- iPhone 14 Plus
- iPhone 14 Pro
- iPhone 14 Pro Max.
According to TheVerge, preorders will begin on September 9th, and the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are scheduled to arrive on September 16th. While lovers of the iPhone 14 Plus will have to wait until October the 7th!
General Features:
- Runs on iOS 16
- A cinematic mode that can record 4K resolution at 30fps and 4K at 24fps. Capture that next viral video with crystal clear clarity!
- The ability to edit sent messages; say no more to the oppressive reign of autocorrupt, making you look bad in front of your crush and business partners; now you can digitally resist the urge to shalaye.
- Action Mode, which should stabilise video while you’re recording in your 4K resolution for my amateur Speilbergs. This is a big win for mobile videography.
- The ability to add widgets to your lock screen. This one is for all my productivity gurus.
Whereas some of the new key features of the 14 and 14 Plus include:
- Emergency messaging via satellite, which is sadly only free for two years.
- Better battery life, yay! More screen time!
- No physical SIM tray, only E-sim
- Crash contact—the smartphone maker has added the ability of the phone to automatically contact emergency services if it discovers that you’ve been in an auto crash.
The premium iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, however, will also possess:
- A new 48MP main camera, what Apple now calls the “main camera”
- An always-on display.
- Dynamic Island—a notch replacement that displays notifications in real-time.
- Apple’s new A16 Bionic chip and a 1TB storage option
All of the new phones will also support satellite-based emergency SOS starting in November. This will make it possible to send messages via communication satellites when you don’t have a cell signal for free for up to 2 years.
The iPhone 14 lineup — as well as the Apple Watch Series 8 — offers the ability to automatically connect you with emergency services if it detects you’ve been involved in a car accident. Permit me to dub this, the “Era of Safety Tech.”
To make things easier, because who doesn’t love tables for comparison? We’ve tabulated some significant specifications with the previous model.

Looking at the table and comparing the prices, do you think the features and/or upgrades are worth the price tag? Let us know in the comment section if you find anything—other than the Apple logo, of course—that makes the product worth the purchase. Don’t forget to share with your friends. You just might convert an Android user. This might be the apple of their eyes after all!
